DNA and Your Health and Wellness
One of the areas that will be explored on this website is the relationship between the DNA you have in every cell and how it relates to your health and wellness. Let me be very clear DNA is who you are and much of what we do whether it is the food that we eat or the exercise we do or the attitudes and what we think about things it influences the way our DNA expresses itself. Since the Human Genome project moved forward a number of years ago we have learned a great deal about the way that DNA (genes) express themselves. This understanding has helped scientist deal with disease and many, many other parts of our human existence.
Recently there has been a great deal of concern about exposure to heavy metals in children. One of the things impacted by the presence of heavy metals is DNA. This is a significant finding and there is a great deal of documentation that says that ingesting some juices that were once deemed healthy may in fact be problematic for a child or an adult. Recently CBS news published a report that addressed this very issue.
During the past several years a great deal of research has been done on DNA and gene expression. One of the areas of research is how various genes can be turned on and off based on exposure to what enters the cell. My personal interest grew from my work at a teacher and coach. As a teacher, I taught biology and chemistry. As a coach, I coached, football, wrestling and I also helped start a strength program to help make my athletes, bigger, stronger and faster. Understanding the impact of nutrition was something I was talking about in my classroom, actually helping students understand by various experiments and exercises. I felt it very important to have that understanding for a healthy life. This also was a direct application to what these students would see in their lives. As a coach, I was always being asked about what they should be eating and not eating in order to achieve peak performance. When the Human Genome Project started I was excited about what would come of this information. Now almost 20 years later there is a great deal of study on Nutrigenomics. In my personal journey, I have been a believer in the value of raw fruits and vegetables for good health for myself, my children and grandchildren, my students and athletes. In 2014, I started my journey to good health and wellness. Part of it was my nutrition and how it was impacted by what I was eating. At that time I met someone at my Master Networks meeting, an RN by training, and a Juice Plus representative. She shared with me a little about Juice Plus and its value to good health. Being a little skeptical of different things you hear about, I then started my own research into the value of the Juice Plus approach to health, wellness, and nutrition. The research was significant. Now years later I am an advocate of Juice Plus and its value to each every person. Part of what I have learned comes from studies done in Nutrigenomics and its, Juice Pluses, impact on DNA. Dr. Lamprecht’s video and many others speak to that realization.
