The children in the picture are my brother and sisters. All children of the ’50s and ’60s. I am the guy on his knees holding up the little baby with the smile on my face. During that time in history we all sat down for supper together and we always had a meal that was based upon protein and vegetables. Now almost 57 years later if we were to look at the average meal served and the type of organization that exists around the meal it would be far different for a number of different reasons. Unfortunately much of what we currently know about the diets in our country, the food is pushing us toward some very unhealthy results that will have a significant impact on us in the next several years.
Obesity is running rampant in our country. A person does not need to go far to see that the number of people who are considered obese is much more common now then they have ever been. The reason is associated with several things. Certainly, nutrition is one of the contributing factors to the problem and one of the ways that people can use to fight their way out of this problem. Still, another factor is the lack of exercise by many adults and children. This can be solved with a walk every day. There is a great need for physical activity to conquer this problem.

This has been a significant concern for me for several years. As a wrestling coach, I was very concerned about what my wrestlers were eating and how they were dealing with some of the significant issues of weight loss. Now that I am retired and I look at my own journey it was important for me to find the best way possible to control my weight and get back to good health.
